This recently completed exterior siding project in Enderby, BC is a strong example of how thoughtful design and skilled installation can completely redefine a commercial building. What began as a basic metal box was stripped back to its structure, allowing for a full exterior transformation that resulted in a modern, stylish cannabis retail space with strong architectural presence.
Once all existing metal cladding was removed, our Canamex Siding crew began installing a new exterior system using a combination of James Hardie® products. The primary design featured Hardie board siding with a cedar-look finish, paired with clean, contemporary Hardie panels. This mix of textures and profiles added depth and contrast to the building, helping break up the original boxy shape and create a much more refined appearance.
All soffits and fascia were also installed by our team, finished in Hardie black. This bold choice created a clean contrast against the lighter siding and panels, helping frame the building and give it a sharp, finished look. The attention to detail in these areas played a major role in elevating the final result.
A key architectural element of this project was the use of board-and-batten installation with the Hardie panels. This detail introduced vertical lines that added height and visual interest to the structure, while complementing the horizontal siding used in other areas. The combination worked together to give the building a modern yet approachable retail look—ideal for a customer-facing business.
As part of the redesign, the roofline was extended beyond the original footprint of the building. These extensions allowed for the construction of a large wraparound deck, significantly enhancing the functionality and presence of the space. The deck includes ramp access to ensure accessibility, along with modern railing systems that tie in seamlessly with the overall aesthetic.
During the project, the client introduced several additional scopes of work, including the installation of the deck railings. Our Canamex Siding crew completed these additions seamlessly, demonstrating our ability to adapt quickly while maintaining quality and efficiency. This project is another example of how our Canamex Siding crew has the experience and on-site expertise allowing us to respond professionally to changes as they arise.
From start to finish, this project required coordination, adaptability, and craftsmanship. The crew enjoyed working with the variety of materials and design elements, and were always ready to adjust on the spot as design changes and extras were introduced.
The final result is a striking transformation—from a plain industrial shell into a modern retail building with strong curb appeal, functional outdoor space, and a design that stands out in the Enderby community.
