Over the past three months, our Canamex team has been proud to contribute to one of the landmark projects at Big White Ski Resort – the Moguls Hotel, a six-story hotel and condo building set in the heart of the mountains. This project has been a rewarding experience for our crew, and as we approach completion, we are reminded of the level of trust and responsibility that comes with being called in to deliver on a large-scale development.
Initially, the siding portion of the Moguls Hotel project was being handled by another company. However, partway through the build, the management team made the decision to bring Canamex onboard to carry the work forward and see it through to completion. Having worked with this management team on a previous project, they already knew the quality, consistency, and reliability of our work. That trust was key in their decision, and once again, we accepted the opportunity with pride and determination.
Led by PJ and Sergio, our team quickly adapted to the circumstances and got to work. Large projects like Moguls naturally bring their own set of challenges, particularly with scheduling. When one trade experiences delays, the impact often cascades down the line. For siding crews, this can be especially difficult, as we are typically one of the last teams working on the exterior before a building is ready to hand over. Despite these challenges, PJ and Sergio kept the crew focused, organized, and moving forward.
Working in a ski resort environment also adds another layer of urgency. With the weather quickly changing as autumn advances, timing is everything. Our team has remained committed to ensuring the hotel is fully wrapped up before the snow begins to fly. Completion is expected to be complete by mid-October ensuring the building is protected and ready for the winter season.
Equally important has been the collaboration on site. The management team and the other trades involved in the Moguls Hotel build have made the process efficient and enjoyable. Having a clean, well-organized worksite and clear communication across teams has helped us maintain momentum even when schedules shifted. It’s been a professional environment where everyone shares the same goal: delivering a high-quality building that will serve guests and owners at Big White for years to come.
As this project nears completion, our team reflects on the trust placed in Canamex and the results we’ve delivered. Being called upon midway through a large build is no small responsibility, but it demonstrates the confidence developers and managers have in our workmanship and our ability to step in when needed. The Moguls Hotel is yet another example of our team’s commitment to quality, reliability, and collaboration. We are proud to have played a role in this exciting development at Big White Ski Resort and look forward to seeing the hotel welcome its first winter guests.
